400m hurdles and relay runner Lyndsay Pekin achieved the feats of qualifying to represent Australia at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2015 Athletics World Championships, all while working near full time. Her plans to decrease her workload and focus on training ahead of Rio were dealt a blow after her partner suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery and impacted his ability to work. The support of the Wally Foreman Foundation in 2015 centred on allowing Lyndsay to target a maiden Olympic berth through competing on the Australian Athletics Tour circuit for the 2015-16 summer, culminating with the Olympic Selection Trials.
