As a result of the mining downturn coupled with restricted work hours due to competition and travel requirements, kayaker Jaime Roberts was retrenched from her mining company role this year as she embarked on a campaign that culminated with her senior Australian world cup debut. Jaime remained undeterred and held aspirations of achieving world championship and Olympic podium finishes and the assistance afforded through the Wally Foreman Foundation allowed her to focus on those ambitions as she actively sought re-entry into the workforce.
