Chris Hayes competes at open international level and is targeting the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, with next year's Australian open team considered the stepping stone in that road.
The 23-year-old's dedication to his dream and the inability to work fulltime as a result has him forgoing such luxuries as a car, instead riding a bike to training sessions.
Work commitments recently resulted in Hayes' family leaving WA, adding to the financial strains on the athlete.
The Foundation's support will assist in Hayes' day-to-day financial costs, as well as helping with the costs of a new scull boat to replace his previous vessel, which was damaged in transport.
